Air PiS
I didn't vote for him, but President Kaczor (Ducky) Kaczyński and his Law and Justice party seem to be delivering on their promise to change the way things are done in Poland.

Theodokos
The Virgin Hodegetria of Nowogród, or "She who Shows the Way", is a constant reminder that God loves us. The icon is named after the monastery and sanctuary of the Hodegetria in Constantinople. Legend has it that she led two blind men to the monastery where she restored their sight. Thus, she has become a guide for those who are looking for God. Look closely and you'll see she is pointing at the source of salvation with her right hand.
From the Archives
I've got lots of old pictures. Here's one from my high school graduation back in Edmonton, 1968. That was my girlfriend back then. I was crazy about her.
This one's even earlier, around 1966. Millenium. Backstage at the Jubilee Auditorium. The little monkeys in the background are Danek and Mike Mozdzenski. Danek is now a famous artist.

Denmark is OK
There are many ways to support our Danish friends - try some blue cheese, drink a Tuborg or an Akvavit, buy a tin of biscuits, kiss a Dane, give your kids a Lego set, install a Grundfos pump, but you need not buy a copy of Jyllands-Posten.

Airbus 380 Arrives at Pointe-à-Pitre
Thousands turned out to see MSN004, the world's largest commercial airplane, land for the first time in Guadeloupe. It was a stopover on the way back to Toulouse from Medellín, Columbia, where the crew of 35 had been conducting behavious tests at high altitude airfields. A few weeks later, when Louise and I were already home, the plane landed in Canada as well, in Iqaluit, for cold weather testing.

Ravenala madagascariensis
It is a widely held belief that water stored in the v-shaped base of each palm leaf had provided sustenance for travellers in earlier days. The leaves of the Traveller's Palm are known to come to rest in an 'east-west' direction and thus have served as an informal compass for travellers making their way home after long journeys. Dreaming of Luvah
O virgin, know'st thou not? Our steeds drink of the golden springs
Where Luvah doth renew his horses. Look'st thou on my youth,
And fearest thou, because I vanish and am seen no more,
Nothing remains? O maid, I tell thee, when I pass away,
It is to tenfold life, to love, to peace and raptures holy. (William Blake, The Book of Thel)

Stapelia gigantea
Carrion Flowers are strange succulent plants native to the deserts of South Africa. The extremely large, starfish-shaped flowers of Stapelia gigantea are pale yellow with reddish stripes.
The flowers give off a pestilent smell that attracts flies. As they buzz from flower to flower, flies collect pollen and transport it to the next plant, thereby ensuring the successful pollination of this species. The flower's putrid smell and hairy, leathery texture mimic the rotting flesh of a dead animal. (Biological Sciences Department. California Polytechnic State University)
