Winter visitor

This barred owl spent a whole morning in a tree beside the woodpile. It may have chosen the sunny location because the temperature was around -20 C., but it may have been a good spot for catching mice.

Just as I was beginning to feel sorry for myself because of the nasty winter weather we've been having here, I received this photo from my brother out west to cheer me up! It was a thoughtful reminder that no matter how bad one's situation might be, it could be worse, so be happy.
